CX Nationals
That was the most fun I’ve had in the cold, since the power went out on Christmas. What a week of racing! Temperatures were low, but steadily climbing as the days went on. The most exciting thing to happen all week was Tiziana DiHorney putting on that Stars and Stripes jersey! And of course the worst thing to happen all week was her brother Callum’s unfortunate mishap during the “Lunch Time World Championships” on Thursday.

Open course riding Thursday was a circus. Actually, I think circuses are more controlled and orderly. There must have been 500 riders on the course, and many were trying to ride racing speed, during what should have been nothing more than a slow course inspection session. It was tire to tire and elbow to elbow, crawling around the circuit. Lots of rude riders, trying to go too fast for the situation. Callum wasn’t the only racer to be hauled off the course that day. Check this link for what looks like the worst broke leg of the day- http://www.epicrides.com/twofour/24.htm , there’s a image of Callum running up the stairs minutes before his incident.

A lot of NMers did an awesome job up north, and all the results can be found elsewhere. We even had one racer in the Clydesdale/Athena race on Saturday night. This was one of the most exciting races all week. Even the high school drumliners were replaced with college drumliners, just in case of alcohol.

What next? Well. Look around this website for ideas, there will always be more added. I don’t know about your CX bike, but mine runs just fine year round.
