If you're like me, and you're probably not, you use a set of tires until they have no tread. I sometimes try a different tire, but it's hard to compare a fresh tire with one that was fresh 500 miles ago.
So, for those of you that go through tires like you have sponsors giving them to you, searching for the best performance, have you discovered the best tire for our typical sandy conditions?

Share your choices. Say whether they are tubular, tubed, or tubeless setup.

I haven't tried a lot of different tires, but the Maxxis Raze (tubed) has worked well for me. My new bike came with Vittoria Cross XG Pro and they seem to drift through loose corners in a bad way. Their tread looks more like a mud tire to me.

Conventional wisdom says that bigger is better for sand. Before we got kicked off all the grass, I was gravitating toward 30s, but a 34 might be the way to go if you can find them in a sand-friendly tread.

I have had great luck with my small tread 29 x 1.9 Bontrager XR1's, but that was on the MTB. I still need to experiment if I can squeeze them into the CX frame. (Shameless plug - the clearance on the Trek is big, but it may not be THAT big.)
