World Championships in Kentucky?

The Hatfields and McCoys better put down their flintlocks and get their cross bikes up and running, the World Championships is coming to Kentucky in 2013! Lexington will host, well, thousands of swill consuming, french fry eating, monk beer worshipping, cow bell ringing, hawg calling, cyclocross fans.

But I thought this fad called cyclocross would be done by then, you ask. Well, as the numbers increase each year locally, it's not looking too faddish. We may even have a permanent SS race in our series in 2010. And heck, as the energy continues to increase, maybe we'll get nationals here before 2013. By that time, either Stephen or I will look more like the "Keith Richards look alike" from bend, who "fixed" the course as we ripped it apart.

Anyway, a short road trip to Kaintuk will be in order in 2013. I can help with the hillbilly acclimation process, if you need help. One of our officials grew up in old Kaintuk, Booger Holler, I think.

Moo

I would like to say that I'm from Louisville, Kentucky and moved here 2 years ago and have been racing in New Mexico cross since I've been here. I started racing cross in Kentucky when I was 16 and can vouch for the mud, rain, and mayhem that is derby city cyclocross. Here is the article I read: http://www.usacycling.org/news/user/story.php?id=4646. It says that the 2012 and 2013 Cyclocross World Championship will be held in Louisville (not Lexington). Louisville has been one of the sites of the National Grand Prix of Cyclocross since 2007 and will surely not disappoint for the first world championship ever held in the USA.

Sorry about the geographical faux paus. The affects of the "L" word are quite overwhelming.
