2009 Whirled Pease World Tour Race

Why does everyone have to be so danged fast, so early in the season? And it's not really "in the season" yet. A fun, hot morning, after Ponytail Man finally arrived. The usual, and fun stuff at MdS, or JP, or that place out back, that we all love so dearly. Sand, goatheads, sand, glass, weeds, and sand, make the courses awesome. Who needs barriers when you've got off camber straight down and straight up pieces, that cause you to think you can ride it, until the bike slices in at the bottom like it went through a coconut custard pie. (My favorite pie)

Thousands came out for the race, and a few hundred more to heckle, I mean spectate. Here's a rough week old guess at who braved the extreme weather, and maybe the order they finished (my ears are still ringing)-
Patrick (of course, I didn't really even need to put his name here, did I?)
Chris (one of many, this was of the Smithwick variety)
Al Senft (riding a gear bike, although he promised a singlespeed for the day)
Whirled Pease (Vespa broker; you meet the crossest people on a Vespa)
Guy Tannn (is that the right amount of "n's"?)
Tom Jones (without the Art of Noise back up band)
Moo Who
David Holmer (Bling Master, until Silva gets out at least)
Clarissa (faster than ever, and destined to surprise the A's soon)
Ayden (just cruising along; who is he anyway?)
Sandy Morrisey
Jeff Husernator (I'm getting too fast, I'll need to slow down this year)
Todd Pilgerator (got splinters mounting the wooden wheels)
Brad (too many gears)
Sarah (pretend there are barriers at least!)

There were many other dedicated crossers out there, and since the Ponytail Man skimped on the results, I had to rely on my bovinium memory cells, which have been affected severely by the grass shortage (not that kind of grass!).

Thanks to all for coming out!

2008 NMCS #4

NMCS #4 in Santa Fe was groovy, fun, and painful. Like the hokey-pokey, that's what it's all about.

Check out the write-up!
